Hurricane Preparedness Video Released by DHS Secretary Homeland Security TodayA video to kick off the official start of hurricane season, which began Thursday, was released by Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary John Kelly.

Kelly urged Americans in the potential path of a hurricane to know their risk, prepare and stay informed. Kelly also reiterated that DHS and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) continue to work closely with their private sector, state and local partners to detect, prepare and respond to the threat of natural disasters.

Kelly visited the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida for an operational briefing regarding the 2017 hurricane season. He was joined by Florida Gov. Rick Scott and officials from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the National Hurricane Center, as well as FEMA’s Hurricane Liaison Team.
