The U.K. Department for International Trade, the Defence and Security Organisation (DSO) is looking to recruit a Principal Security Exports Advisor.
DSO helps the U.K.’s defense and security industries to export. Working with industry bodies and several government departments, DSO encourages U.K. companies to sell overseas, provide information on best practice and connect businesses with foreign buyers.
The DSO Security Team provides advice to U.K. companies, most of whom are small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), covering areas such as law enforcement; fire and rescue; critical infrastructure protection and resilience.
Interested applicants must be comfortable acting independently as well as part of a team. Responsibilities include engaging proactively with companies in the U.K. security sector to advise them of the government support on offer to them, speaking credibly with U.K. businesses about the opportunities on offer and the requirements of overseas buyers, and building relationships with overseas police, security and resilience buyers to promote the expertise of U.K. suppliers in the sector. The successful candidate will be tasked with raising the profile of DSO’s work within the security sector, therefore strong communication and leadership skills will be essential.
Candidates should have a detailed understanding of how to keep people safe through a background in police, fire or critical national infrastructure security. Experience of working with commercial organizations, especially SMEs, is desirable.
The vacancy is open to applicants from the U.K., Commonwealth, and European Economic Area (EEA) and certain non EEA nationals.
Salary will be in the range of £49,703 – £57,789.
