Karl Weiss has joined SGI Global as Vice President of Global Operations and Business Development, bringing more than three decades of experience spanning federal law enforcement, international security, government advisory work, and global mission support.
In his new role, Weiss will lead SGI Global’s international programs while overseeing strategic growth, client engagement, and business development efforts supporting security and law enforcement initiatives. He will guide global operations, lead multidisciplinary teams, and help align operational execution with the company’s long-term growth strategy.
Weiss joins SGI Global after nearly six years with the U.S. Department of State. Most recently, he served as Senior Law Enforcement and Security Advisor to the United Nations-sanctioned Multinational Security Support mission for Haiti, coordinating daily with the Department of State, Department of Defense, USAID, the United Nations, multinational partners, and other stakeholders.
Before that, Weiss served as the State Department’s Senior Police Advisor, supporting law enforcement and security programs throughout the Western Hemisphere while contributing to global projects focused on investigative capacity building, threat mitigation, fraud detection, anti-money laundering, and operational efficiency.
Earlier in his career, Weiss spent more than 20 years with the Drug Enforcement Administration, serving in leadership and investigative roles including Acting Assistant Special Agent in Charge, Supervisory Special Agent and Unit Chief, and Special Agent in Bogotá, Colombia. During his DEA career, he managed international training programs, oversaw personnel recovery efforts, coordinated training reaching more than 5,200 participants from 132 countries, and led multinational investigations involving narcotics, financial crimes, weapons trafficking, and terrorism-related matters.
Prior to joining the DEA, Weiss served as a Deputy Sheriff and narcotics investigator with the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office in Florida and taught law enforcement subjects as an adjunct instructor at Valencia College and Seminole State College.
Weiss holds a Master of Science in Financial Investigations from the University of New Haven and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and Psychology from the University of Central Florida. He is also a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Project Management Professional (PMP), and a graduate of the Senior Management Institute for Police.
