Former TSA Deputy CIO Kristin Ruiz Takes on New Role at U.S. Department of Labor

Kristin Ruiz, a former Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Deputy Assistant Administrator and Deputy Chief Information Officer, has taken on a new role as Associate Commissioner of Technology and Survey Processing at the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Ruiz brings extensive federal technology leadership experience to the position, including more than three years at TSA.

During her time at TSA, Ruiz supported the agency’s information technology mission and helped lead technology initiatives across the organization. Before joining TSA, she served as Associate Chief Information Officer for Applications and Digital Solutions at the U.S. Department of Transportation from 2021 to 2023.

Ruiz has held several senior federal IT and program management roles throughout her career. At the U.S. Department of Agriculture, she served as Chief Portfolio Officer and Director of the Portfolio Management Division, overseeing IT portfolio management efforts from 2016 to 2019.

Earlier roles included senior IT program management and consulting positions supporting federal government organizations, including Booz Allen Hamilton, SENTEL Corporation, QinetiQ US, and other federal contractors.

Ruiz began her career in federal support roles after serving in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1998 to 2002.
