U.K. Government Probes Claims of Racist Messages Sent by Immigration Contractors

The Home Office is investigating allegations that racist WhatsApp messages were sent by immigration staff at a firm paid to escort migrants to detention centers.

The messages, allegedly sent by workers for Mitie included offensive remarks about Syrian refugees, Chinese people, MP Diane Abbott and home secretary Priti Patel, according to the Sunday Mirror.

The Home Office said the claims were being investigated by its professional standards unit.
