This Emergency Communications Month, the National Council of Statewide Interoperability Coordinators (NCSWIC) Planning, Training, and Exercise (PTE) Committee has announced the publication of the ‘What is a PACE Plan’ Video’. The ‘What is a PACE Plan’ Video explains what a Primary, Alternate, Contingency, and Emergency (PACE) plan is, why it is important for all levels of public safety to be familiar with their PACE Plan, and why all agencies should routinely practice their PACE plans.
Established by the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) in July 2010, the National Council of Statewide Interoperability Coordinators (NCSWIC) supports Statewide Interoperability Coordinators (SWIC) from the 56 states and territories, by developing products and services to assist them with leveraging their relationships, professional knowledge, and experience with public safety partners involved in interoperable communications at all levels of government.
In this video, members of NCSWIC discuss how communications can change in out-of-the-ordinary situations and how a PACE plan can help personnel maintain communications, despite degradation of the primary means of communication.
This video serves as a tool to educate public safety practitioners on the importance of Practicing Your PACE to prepare for the next out-of-the-ordinary situation.
