Centerra Group, LLC (Centerra), a leading global government and critical infrastructure services company, has been selected as the fire protection, emergency management and emergency medical services contractor at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station (CCAFS).
The five-year contract will run through 2021. Cape Canaveral Air Force Station (CCAFS) is a restricted-access 15,000 acre site, operated by the 45th Space Wing of the US Air Force. The site contains three active, independent Space Launch Complexes in addition to numerous buildings, warehouses, hangers and an active aircraft runway. CCAFS was the launch site for all manned space launches prior to Apollo 8 as well as the launch site for many other NASA and DOD missions. CCAFS currently launches unmanned cargo and satellite missions.
Centerra will continue to operate three separate fire stations, providing comprehensive fire and emergency services for the entire CCAFS site, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Centerra’s DOD certified firefighters will continue to respond to all emergencies that may arise such as aircraft incidents, structural fires, hazardous materials incidents, high angle/technical rescues, confined space rescues, vehicular accidents, waterborne spills and wildland fires, and continue support all launch events.
