Border Patrol teams finished in first place in both the Honor Guard and Pipe and Drums events Wednesday during National Police Week in Washington.
“Congratulations to the #BorderPatrol Honor Guard Team, and the #USBP Pipes & Drums! Both teams won 1st place at the #NationalPoliceWeek 2019 Steve Young Honor Guard and Pipe & Drum Competition! Your hard work and dedication has paid off,” tweeted Border Patrol Chief Carla Provost. “I couldn’t be more proud.”
In addition to the Border Patrol, competitors in the Honor Guard segment were Customs and Border Protection – Field Operations, Washington State Patrol, San Bernardino County (Calif.) Sheriff’s Department, U.S. Capitol Police, Chicago Police Department, Oklahoma Department of Corrections, Metro Nashville Police Department, Union Township (Ohio) Police, Spartanburg County (S.C.) Sheriff Office, Greene County (Mo.) Sheriff’s Office, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Competitors in the Pipe and Drums event, in addition to the Border Patrol, were the U.S. Coast Guard Pipe Band, San Jose Police Emerald Society, Pipes and Drums of the Chicago Police Department, Fort Worth Police Pipes and Drums Band, Newport News Police Pipes & Drums, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Seattle Police Pipes and Drums, Los Angeles Police Emerald Society Pipes and Drums, Wake and District Public Safety Pipes and Drums, and Texas Department of Public Safety Pipe and Drum Corps.
