Meredith Wallace Joins DOW as Deputy Assistant Secretary of War for Cyber Operations Policy

Meredith Wallace has joined the Department of War as Deputy Assistant Secretary of War for Cyber Operations Policy, where she will oversee the development of the department’s cyber operations policy and lead implementation of its cyber strategy.

Wallace brings experience from both government and industry, with a background spanning cyber operations, intelligence, homeland security, and defense.

Before joining the Department of War, she held leadership roles at General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), serving as Chief of Staff and leading operations within the company’s Homeland Security Sector before supporting the Chief Growth Officer. Earlier, she served as a Senior Advisor to the Director of Cyber Warfare in the Office of the Undersecretary of War for Acquisition and Sustainment.

She also helped build an early-stage company focused on emerging technology, great power competition, supply chain resilience, and cyber threat intelligence. There, she developed the company’s commercial intelligence product line and led a team of analysts before the business was acquired by a cybersecurity threat intelligence firm.

Wallace previously served in the Department of War and the Department of Homeland Security in intelligence and operations roles. From 2018 to 2021, she worked on the staff of the Secretary of Homeland Security, coordinating daily operations and intelligence briefings across the department. During that time, she also completed a detail to the newly established Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), where she served as operations and intelligence lead for the Cybersecurity Division, helping coordinate information sharing between senior cyber leaders across the intelligence community and the Department of War.

She began her career in Naval Intelligence, serving as the sole SIGINT targeter and voice of her agency to an international, interagency fusion cell in the Middle East.

Wallace is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree.
