The MEMRI Jihad and Terrorism Threat Monitor (JTTM) project reported on May 7 that Hamid Al‑Qawsi, who says he is a Yemeni researcher of jihadi matters and is believed to be affiliated with Al‑Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), had described and shared a 27-second English-language video in on his Telegram account. He said that the video had been released by AQAP, as part of its long-running English-language propaganda series “Inspire.”
As of this writing, the video, which calls on Muslims living in the West to carry out individual “jihad operations” against Western and Israeli targets, does not appear to have been disseminated through AQAP’s confirmed or official media channels.
Below is the MEMRI report:
The video, titled “Why Jihadi Operations in the West?” features archival segments of deceased Al-Qaeda ideologues, including Adam Gadahn – Azzam Al-Amriki – and Abu Yahya Al-Libi. He said that the video promotes lone-wolf attacks and claims that independently conducted “operations” by actors from within Western countries can significantly impact security, politics, and the economy.

In the video, a masked operative seated in a dimly lit room speaks in English with a digitally altered voice, outlining what the group presents as its strategic and ideological rationale for prioritizing attacks within Western nations. He frames such actions as warfare conducted “behind enemy lines,” portraying them as an extension of global jihadi struggle.
