Coast Guard Interdicts 36 Aliens Near San Diego

A Coast Guard boarding team assigned to the 154-foot fast response cutter USCGC John McCormick (WPC 1121) interdicted 36 suspected aliens approximately 22 miles offshore of San Diego earlier this week.

At 1:38 p.m., the John McCormick crew detected a suspicious 30-foot cuddy cabin vessel and launched a boarding team to investigate.

The boarding team approached the vessel and gained compliance without further use of force.

During the boarding, 36 suspected aliens were identified, all claiming Mexican nationality.

All aliens were detained and transferred to U.S. Border Patrol agents at Ballast Point.
